Daylong training on Occupational Health and Safety held in Dhaka

The Occupational Health and Safety issue of the garments workers, or in any form of workplace, has got a huge importance to the local and international level since some of the unforgettable scenarios were captured couple of years back. But things have been changed. Now, everyone treats- healthy workers are productive workers. Even the owners are coming up with new strategies to ensure health and safety facilities for the workers. In line with this idea that how an effective Occupational Health and Safety Management System can be formed, implemented and maintained; a daylong training on ISO 45001 Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) was held in Dhaka, yesterday.

The session was organized by USA based Audit, Inspection, Certification and Training providing company Sustainable Management System (SMS) Bangladesh in which 39 participants from different garments factories, buying houses, audit firms and NGOs attended.

The session was conducted by one of the vastly experienced and international trainers on Management Systems, Mr. Abdul Alim, President & CEO- Sustainable Management System (SMS) Bangladesh. From the perspective of Management System, Mr. Alim made the session so lively and interactive using the some key methods of Management System: Plan-Do-Check-Act (PDCA), Risk Assessment (RA), Root Cause Analysis (RCA) etc.  

Mr. Azad Ahmed Patwary, Executive Director and CEO- Knit Plus Limited, graced the session attending as the special guest while Mr. Jahidur Rahman Morol, Responsible Sourcing Manager- JCPenney and Mr. Yead Arefin, Responsible Sourcing Specialist- JCPenney were also present among others.

At the end of the session certificates of attendance were handed over to the delegates.

The next daylong introduction course on Occupational Health and Safety Management System will be held on January 4, 2018.
