FairCapacity Program
Sustainable Management System Inc. proudly supported the FairCapacity Program in Bangladesh, a completed initiative led by Social Accountability International (SAI) to improve labor compliance, production planning transparency, buyer-supplier relationships, and working conditions in the ready-made garment supply chain.
About the FairCapacity Program
FairCapacity was developed to help suppliers improve production capacity planning, strengthen labor and business practices, and connect with brands committed to improving purchasing practices. In Bangladesh, the program focused on the apparel supply chain and addressed risks linked to inaccurate production capacity calculation, over-ordering, unauthorized subcontracting, excessive overtime, and forced labor risk.
Improve Capacity Planning
Supporting suppliers to calculate production capacity more accurately and avoid unrealistic production commitments.
Reduce Labor Risks
Addressing risks linked to excessive overtime, unauthorized subcontracting, production pressure, and weak labor performance.
Responsible Subcontracting
Encouraging better visibility, traceability, and responsible subcontracting practices across apparel supply chains.
Buyer-Supplier Collaboration
Promoting better communication, realistic order planning, and fairer purchasing practices.
Capacity Building
Supporting factories through training, assessment, improvement planning, tools, and practical workplace guidance.
Workplace Improvement
Helping suppliers shift from repeated compliance pressure toward stronger systems and continuous improvement.
Project Impact and Key Outcomes
During the project, FairCapacity delivered tools, trainings, events, assessments, and capacity-building activities to support practical improvement in Bangladesh’s RMG sector.
Tools, Training and Capacity Building
The FairCapacity team developed a Production Capacity Calculator, an online platform, buyer and supplier tools, and delivered multiple trainings and events. The program also provided management system assessments, improvement plans, one-on-one support, and customized tools to strengthen social performance.
