A comprehensive consultation session on the Training Needs Assessment for 2025 was held at The Wisdom Campus in Uttara, Dhaka, organized by Sustainable Management System Inc. The event brought together key stakeholders, including representatives from brands, buying houses, renowned garment industries, and participants from the Grievance Management Systems Lead Auditor Training Course.
The discussion focused on reviewing the training initiatives conducted from 2022 to 2024, along with an overview of the planned activities for 2024. Md. Abdul Alim, CEO of Sustainable Management System Inc., shared the highlights of the training programs from 2022 to 2024. He provided an overview of these training sessions and mentioned that a total of 70 sessions were held in 2024. These included 14 public training sessions and 56 customized sessions, benefiting a total of 2,935 participants. The sessions reached 254 organizations, 209 factories, and several other key stakeholders, including brands, NGOs, audit companies, and buying houses.
The training programs of 2024 not only trained 2,935 management staff but also impacted a larger workforce, with 59,752 workers benefiting from the initiatives. These programs aimed to enhance knowledge and improve the skill sets of both employees and management across various sectors.
The event also featured interactive team discussions on identifying social and environmental knowledge gaps within the Ready-Made Garment (RMG) industry. The participants, divided into two groups, shared valuable insights on crucial topics such as social risk assessments, data protection, sustainability reporting, and the professional competencies required for the evolving industrial landscape. Group one emphasized the importance of understanding complex environmental and social factors, including HRDD social risk assessments, eco-scoring, and the CoC-OECD guidelines, while group two highlighted the need for better interpretation of policies, communication skills, and the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the industry.
This event marked a significant step toward addressing training gaps and equipping the RMG sector with the knowledge needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving global marketplace. Stakeholders left with a shared commitment to enhancing their collective understanding and improving sustainability and ethical standards within the industry in the coming years.
